Simple Fruit Sauce

This will be a short post. Please just make this...

  • 300 grams (about 2 cups) raspberries, strawberries or blueberries (frozen is fine)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 Tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 good pinch of salt

Place all ingredients in a saucepan...

Bring to a simmer for 10 minutes. If you're using raspberries they will fall apart beautifully on their own.

If you use blueberries or strawberries, after simmering for 10 minutes use a stick blender (or a standard blender if you prefer) and puree to your desired consistency.

Store in a glass jar in the fridge. Keep in mind it will thicken as it cools. It ends up being like a loose jam which is actually my jam preference.

The flavor is bright and not too sweet so you can actually taste the fruit! Use on pancakes, stirred into plain yogurt, poured over ice cream, as the jam in your son's PB&J...or dig in with a spoon like a purist.
